Tyler Starnes
Tyler C. Starnes, is from Duffield, VA, and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Lincoln Memorial University in 2021. While at LMU, Tyler graduated Summa Cum Laude and was a member of the LMU Golf Team. Tyler then accepted a full academic scholarship from Appalachian School of Law, where he graduated in 2024. While at ASL, Tyler earned a Criminal Litigation Certificate and served as Student Body President during the 2023-2024 academic year. He was also named Best Oralist at the 2024 National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, hosted by Pace University in New York. Tyler is the youngest graduate of Appalachian School of Law to date.
Tyler has a strong interest in criminal defense, domestic relations, local government, and general litigation. He also serves as General Counsel for Russell County, Virginia, the Industrial Development Authority of Russell County, Virginia, and for the Town of Duffield, Virginia.
Tyler also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Appalachian School of Law, teaching Alternative Dispute Resolution and coaching the Constitutional Law and Criminal Law Moot Court teams.
In his free time, Tyler enjoys golfing, hunting, going to the gym, and staying involved in politics. Tyler has significant political experience, serving as Deputy Political Director for Jason Miyares’ Attorney General campaign in 2021 and Political Director for Majority Leader Terry Kilgore in 2023. He has also managed numerous local political campaigns.
